The island of Lošinj, situated in the north of the Adriatic with more than 30 islands and islets belongs to the Cres-Lošinj archipelago. This group of islands makes a specific natural boundary-line between the climate and vegetation of Istria and Dalmatia and a unique blend of flora and fauna descending from both of these areas.

A great number of sunny days, remoteness of land an an immense influence of the sea create the wonder of mild and pleasant climate.

The climate's features are favourable for growth of luxuriant evergreen vegetation, ranging to 1500 species. Mali Lošinj is the largest place on the island, a famous tourist destination with its 125 year-long tradition in tourism. The healing and miraculous effects of the climate have been discovered in the past whereupon in 1892 Mali and Veli Lošinj were declared health resorts.

Nowadays Lošinj is renowned as the health resort for pulmonary difficulties and allergies.
